ICC Introduces 5 Runs Penalty To Bowlers For Slow Overs

The ICC, which oversees cricket, announced a new rule for men’s ODI and T20I matches. If bowlers take longer than 60 seconds three times to start bowling a new over, their team will lose five runs. This rule will be tried out for some time to see how it works.

Starting from December 2023 to April 2024, a trial will use a stopwatch to keep track of time between overs. If the bowling team isn’t ready within 60 seconds after the last over, they’ll face a five-run penalty for the third delay in one game.

In addition to this, the ICC changed how they decide if a cricket pitch should be banned from international games. They made the rules simpler for checking the pitch and outfield. Also, they increased the points needed to ban a venue from five to six points over five years.
