The Pakistan Cricket Board made a significant announcement today, confirming the induction of former Test captain Mohammad Yousuf as the head coach of the Pakistan U19 team. Yousuf, a distinguished figure in Pakistan’s cricket history, is set to take charge of the U19 squad, marking his first major coaching role in this capacity.
Yousuf’s journey in cricket administration includes prior roles as the batting coach for the Pakistan Men’s Team and his tenure at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. With an illustrious batting career that spanned from 1998 to 2010, he holds a commendable record of 7,530 Test runs and 9,720 ODI runs. Notably, Yousuf’s pinnacle moment came in 2006 when he amassed a staggering 1788 runs, setting the record for the most Test runs in a calendar year.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Yousuf stated, “I am pleased to join as Pakistan U19 head coach and feel honored to have been given the opportunity to contribute to Pakistan cricket by Chairman PB Management Committee Mr. Zaka Ashraf.” He emphasized the significance of the upcoming U19 Asia Cup and ICC U19 World Cup tournaments, highlighting their pivotal role in the players’ growth and development.
